“Fast And Furious” franchise is coming to an end. Guess who’s going to direct the final set of movies for the action packed franchise? It’s none other than Justin Lin.
The “Star Trek: Beyond” director has been roped in by Vin Diesel. According to the Wired, Actor Vin Diesel has expressed his desire to have the experience director on board for his final segments of the film. He was quoted as saying, “I’m going to bring him back. Whenever we had a day off—even on Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday—it was Justin and me working on how far we could take it. Success comes from 10 years of that mentality.”
This is not the first time that the director is going to work with the franchise. It was the directorial skills of the young artist who took “Fast and Furious” franchise ahead from the fifth part onwards. However, the “Better Luck Tomorrow” director could not direct the two most recent films of the franchise “Fast and Furious 7” and the “Furious 8” due to prior commitments for the summer with the movie “Star Trek: Beyond”.
If the reports of Slash Film are believed, Justin Lin has been asked by the Vin Diesel to “finish what he has started.” This was countered by a response from the director itself who described the veteran actor as “very persuasive.” This clearly indicates that the Director is actually considering the offer that is being given by the star for “the one last ride,” as stated to the Wired.
Currently, “Furious 8” is being shot in Cleveland by the “Straight Outta Compton’ Director F. Gary. Gray. The film is due for 2017.
The final two movies, which will eventually wrap up the series of the “Fast and Furious”, are slated for release in 2019 and 2021.
