It looks like Michael Bisping will be taking his talents from the fighting cage to the city lights of Hollywood. As UFC fans already know, Bisping is an established and relentless UFC competitor who knows his way around an Octagon.
According to Fox Sports, Michael Bisping has just been cast for a mystery role in the upcoming action-adventure explosions and gunfire galore “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage”. Director of the film DJ Caruso confirmed the casting and graciously welcomed Bisping aboard the cast of his film through his Twitter page.
Bisping teased his fans that he landed a role in an unnamed movie that would take him out of the country to Canada for the time being. He finally confirmed the casting in the xXx sequel himself via his own Twitter account.
“xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” is the long-awaited sequel to the 2002 action-thriller titled “XXX”. According to Mail Online, the sequel will feature a strong cast that includes Ruby Rose, Rory McCann of “Game of Thrones” fame, martial-arts master Donnie Yen, a returning Vin Diesel to reprise his role of protagonist Xander Cage, and the charismatic and universally recognized Samuel L. Jackson.
Fox Sports reports that Bisping has actually had some experience with acting in movies before. The UFC middleweight has had roles in several minor films such as “Indebted” and a TV stint in “Hollyoaks Later”. Most notably, Bisping was part of the Cinemax-produced action series “Strike Back.”
Michael Bisping has continued to pursue more acting roles when he gets some down time; meaning when he is not actively beating someone up or taking a beating inside the eight-sided ring. Nonetheless, fighting continues to be Bisping’s main focus as he continues to expand his horizons. Come on, who would turn down a starring role in a big-budget movie?
It is also worth mentioning that at one point, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor was in talks to play a part in the “xXx” sequel. McGregor had to turn it down due scheduling conflicts as he starts to prepare for his upcoming rematch against Nate Diaz.
“xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” is slated to hit theaters on January 20, 2017.
