The Fast and Furious 8 will be the first installment in the franchise without Paul Walker. But in honor of the late actor, Vin Diesel and the F8 team are considering to include a cameo of his character Brian O’Conner in the upcoming movie.
Paul’s brothers Caleb and Cody Walker revealed that Diesel asked for their blessing to include the actor in Fast and Furious 8. After promoting the Game4Paul fundraising event, they spoke with Entertainment Tonight and shared Diesel’s plans.
Caleb said Diesel spoke to him to ask if it would be acceptable to bring the character back. This is just to “let his fans know he’s still out there.”
Caleb further said that he and Vin Diesel have been discussing about it for a while now. The Walkers, however, did not further explain if Paul’s cameo will be CGI or if they will act as body doubles once again. Back in 2014, Paul’s younger brothers stepped in to finish his remaining scenes.
At that time, Caleb and Cody got to know their brother even more. If there is anything good about filling in their brother’s shoes, it is the fact that it helped them come to terms with the painful loss. It sort of helped them go through their grief on their brother’s untimely death.
Caleb could not help but remember the time Paul was gone a lot because of his job. They could not even be with him during holidays. They only got to understand their brother when they filmed Furious 7.
Meanwhile, the proceeds of the Game4Paul will all go to Paul’s organization Reach Out WorldWide. Cody said they will keep supporting and keep the charity going for as long as they could.
Fast and Furious 8 will hit theaters on April 12, 2017. It is being directed by Straight Outta Compton helmer F. Gary Gray.
